Five Lined Skink, adult male Lives
underneath a whisky barrel converted into a pond, in my backyard. |
Eastern Box turtle Occasionally
found around the area... they are pretty common. |

Brown Snake, full grown Found
(and rescued) in the pool while at a party at a friends house. These
are also pretty common now. |
Eyed Click beetle These are a
real treat to find. They are not uncommon, but not abundant. They are
about 2 inches long, and, as their name indicates, click for up to a foot
when you flip them onto their backs. Great fun to play with. |

Praying mantis Saw this beautiful
creature on some plants at my house. I had to take a picture of her on
my hand to show how gigantic she was. She was a pretty well-behaved
subject. |

Black Rat snake Photographed on my
grandparent's farm in Dalmatia, PA. This pretty boy was about 5 or 6
feet long, and was sunning himself in the morning. He had spent the
night in this old birdhouse. |
Jumping spider My favorite kind of
spider. Jumping spiders are so small, but they are so colorful and
smart. I had to take a picture of this one because of its super-bright
colors. This spider is about 1/2 and inch long. |

Bull frog, young Lives in our pond at
home. Not a huge frog, only about the size of a woman's fist. |
Copperhead, adult Found this guy in
our backyard in the woods. We caught him to relocate him, out of a
populated area. |

Garter snake The neighbors called for
me to identify and remove a snake from their yard. And this was the
culprit. |
Hibernating bullfrog It was early
spring and things were still cold. I was rummaging around in one of
the low barrel ponds and I found this hibernating bullfrog. He was
still slightly groggy. |
